CV/Bio

Born and raised in Israel, Edith was always considered to be an artistic child.

Many years later and long away from home, she got a Masters of Arts degree in Early childhood / Childhood Education. A short while after, as a spouse of an American Diplomat her family lived in many countries overseas. Landscapes that she saw are embedded in her visual memories and influences her art.

As a teacher, watching preschool children explore various art materials she provided them with, inspired her to express her own creativity.

She painted on her own using acrylic paints, and then took some classes. While working under the guidance of Walt Bartman, and Jordan Bruns, at Glen Echo Park, MD. she explored oils and graphite. This broaden her knowledge and understanding, which gave her the confidence and courage to exhibit and sell her works at different venues including being Artist in Residence at the Glen Echo Park - Stone Tower every June for 3 years in a row.

Her interest creating using clay felt like a natural extension of her desire to portrait the human figure in all its grandeur. Edith started sculpting beautiful organic forms enjoying the creative process of adding clay to build representational forms.

As a child and as an adult, Edith was always drawn to the beauty of mountains and their exquisite colors. Side by side sculpting with clay, and her inner quest to explore brought her to stone carving where she was marveled by the process of chiseling and carving off rock material to create organic abstract forms using different kinds of rocks.

Edith is a Kidney Transplant recipient. Chronic Kidney Disease, dialysis, and other physical challenges have not stopped her from channeling positive energy to her pursuit of artistic knowledge and expression.

In fact, being able to process her experiences by painting and sculpting has helped her find strength and renewed hope for a healthier happier life.

Edith donated "Dreamer", a bronze cast sculpture to MedStar Georgetown Hospital
which is now on display at Georgetown Transplant Institute
